I'm an independent translator or German WW1 manuals, this started out as a passion project to educate myself, and realized that I should contribute to the hobby and history I have long enjoyed. I want to help as many reenactors as possible get a better baseline of knowledge as I can. There is always room for improvement, but we have to start somewhere!
The Why of CPB
Translating historical manuals and monographs began as a personal passion project to deepen my understanding of the intricacies of reenacting Imperial Germany during the Great War. I rely on a variety of tools and collaborate with others to ensure my translations are as clear and accessible as possible. While they may not capture every nuance, my goal is to provide English-speaking reenactors with a solid foundation for better understanding the era and the men we strive to portray.
We must set aside our egos—no reenactor will ever achieve 100% historical accuracy. However, we can strive for a more comprehensive understanding of the knowledge and training that shaped those gallant soldiers.
My ambitions extend beyond German textbooks and manuals. There is a wealth of World War I knowledge at risk of being lost, and I am committed to preserving as much as possible. By doing so, I hope to move beyond the shallow interpretations of how Great War soldiers lived and thought, ensuring their legacy endures.
